Bookkeeping is the service on Fiverr where you hand over the most sensitive data for the least glamorous work. That is exactly why it pays to buy carefully. The right bookkeeper saves you hours every month and a painful year-end; the wrong one leaves you with a cleanup bill on top of the original one.

How much does a bookkeeper cost on Fiverr?

Across the 33 well-reviewed gigs (4.7 stars or better, 20+ reviews) on the first page of Fiverr’s bookkeeping category on September 29, 2026, the median starting price was $35 and the middle half ran from $25 to $75. The range ran from $10 to $500. These are starting prices of each gig’s cheapest package, not a monthly retainer.

The $35 starting package usually covers a small block of transactions, often 50 to 100, or one month for a very small business with one bank account. Real pricing depends on transaction volume, the number of accounts and how messy the books are when the bookkeeper starts.

TierTypical priceWhat it usually includes
Basic$50 to $120 a month1-2 accounts, up to about 100 transactions, categorization, bank reconciliation
Standard$120 to $300 a monthSeveral accounts, up to a few hundred transactions, profit and loss, balance sheet, receipts matched
Premium$300 to $500 a monthHigh volume, payroll entries, inventory, accounts payable and receivable, monthly close report and call

Cleanups are priced separately, by the number of months to catch up and the transaction count. On a $300 cleanup order, Fiverr’s 5.5% service fee adds $16.50. On a $35 starter order the $3.50 small-order fee also applies, for a $40.43 checkout before tax. The fees guide has more worked examples.

Monthly bookkeeping or a one-off cleanup?

Start with the cleanup if your books are behind, then move to monthly. A bookkeeper who reconciles last year’s mess learns your business, and the monthly work that follows goes faster and costs less.

For monthly work, a subscription or a monthly custom offer keeps the same person on your books. 45% of the gigs in our sample offered subscriptions; the recurring orders guide explains how they bill. Once you know your monthly transaction count, compare bookkeeping packages on Fiverr .

Marketplace or Fiverr Pro for bookkeeping?

For a sole trader or small business in one country, the marketplace works well. 61% of the gigs we checked came from Top Rated sellers, and software certifications such as QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor or Xero Advisor are easy to ask about.

Fiverr Pro is worth the premium when the books are complex: several entities, inventory, payroll across regions or investors reading your reports. Only 3 of the 33 gigs in our sample were Pro, starting at a $250 median. Pro freelancers are vetted by Fiverr’s experts, eligible Pro orders carry a money-back satisfaction guarantee within 14 days of completion, and the Pro Advanced plan adds monthly or deferred payments where eligible. See the Fiverr Pro guide for the plans.

How do you read a bookkeeping gig before ordering?

Check these six points before you share a single statement.

  • Software. QuickBooks Online, Xero, Wave, FreshBooks or Zoho Books. Pick someone fluent in yours.
  • Pricing unit. Per month, per transaction block or per hour. Match it to your monthly transaction count.
  • Scope. Categorization only, or reconciliation, receipts, invoicing, bills and month-end reports.
  • Country knowledge. Sales tax, GST or VAT tracking rules differ. A bookkeeper used to your country’s setup saves corrections.
  • Qualifications. Software certifications, accounting qualifications and what they do not do (tax filing, audit, legal advice).
  • Deliverables. Monthly profit and loss, balance sheet, reconciliation report and a list of questions about unclear transactions.

What should you put in a bookkeeping brief?

Send the scope first, and share access only after the order is placed.

  • Business type, country and accounting year end
  • Software, and whether you can invite them as an accountant or limited user
  • Number of bank accounts, cards and payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, Shopify Payments)
  • Average monthly transaction count
  • What is needed: cleanup from a start date, monthly bookkeeping or both
  • Current state: last reconciled month, known problems
  • Sales tax, GST or VAT registration status
  • Reports you want each month and the day you want them
  • Who your tax preparer or accountant is, so the books match their needs

Keep account security tight. Invite the bookkeeper through the software’s own user roles, connect bank feeds directly rather than sharing bank logins and remove access when the work ends. Fiverr says it will never ask for your login or payment details, and advises against sharing ID numbers and sensitive details in messages.

What are the red flags on bookkeeping gigs?

  • A request for your online banking login. A bookkeeper does not need it.
  • Offers to file your tax returns without stating any qualification to do so.
  • A fixed low monthly price quoted without asking your transaction volume.
  • No questions about your country’s sales tax, GST or VAT setup.
  • Pressure to move payment off Fiverr for “ongoing work”. Off-platform work loses Fiverr’s protection, and third-party tools are only permitted after an order is placed.

Where do you find a good bookkeeper on Fiverr?

The shortlist on this page lists well-reviewed bookkeeping gigs from the same first-page check, with starting prices and delivery times as read on the stamped date. Order one month or a small cleanup from your top pick, review the reconciliation and the question list they send you, then move to a monthly subscription. Planning to raise money? The business plan guide uses the same numbers.

Frequently asked questions

How much does monthly bookkeeping cost on Fiverr?
The typical range for this category is $50 to $500 a month. A sole trader with one bank account and under 100 transactions sits at the low end. Several accounts, payroll, inventory or multiple currencies push toward the top. Ask for a quote based on your monthly transaction count.
What is a bookkeeping cleanup?
A cleanup, or catch-up, fixes months or years of uncategorized, duplicated or unreconciled transactions so the books are accurate from a set date. It is usually priced as a one-off project by months and transaction volume, before any monthly work starts.
Can a Fiverr bookkeeper file my taxes?
Bookkeeping and tax filing are different services. A bookkeeper keeps accurate records and produces reports; filing returns usually needs a qualified tax professional licensed where you file. Ask directly what the seller is qualified to do.
Is it safe to give a Fiverr bookkeeper access to my accounts?
It can be, if you use the accounting software's own user invites with limited roles, keep bank logins to yourself and connect bank feeds directly. Remove access when the engagement ends, and never share passwords in Fiverr messages.
