Most people order “proofreading” when they want editing, then feel short-changed when the document comes back with commas fixed and the clunky sentences still there. Across the 39 well-reviewed gigs (4.7 stars or better, 20+ reviews) on the first page of Fiverr’s proofreading and editing category on September 29, 2026, the median starting price was $40 and the middle half ran from $10 to $100. The range ran from $5 to $215. These are starting prices of each gig’s cheapest package, not the cost of editing a full manuscript.

Every gig here is priced by word count, which makes the headline price almost useless on its own. Divide by the word cap in the package and compare cost per 1,000 words. Then match the level of editing to what your text needs.

Marketplace or Fiverr Pro for proofreading?

The marketplace covers almost every proofreading need. Half the gigs we checked (51%) came from Top Rated sellers, and the work is easy to judge on a short test.

Fiverr Pro is worth considering for high-stakes documents where an error costs real money: investor materials, legal or medical copy, a published book.
