Browse all voice over gigs on Fiverr Need vetted talent? Fiverr Pro has voice over sellers

Voice over is one of Fiverr’s most mature categories. The sellers on the first page are overwhelmingly Top Rated, the samples are right on the gig page and turnaround is fast. The part buyers get wrong is not the voice, it is the paperwork: word counts, usage rights and what counts as a free fix.

How much does a voice over cost on Fiverr?

Across the 45 well-reviewed gigs on the first page of Fiverr’s voice over category on September 29, 2026, the median starting price was $60 and the middle half ran from $30 to $125. We counted gigs rated 4.7 or higher with at least 20 reviews. These are starting prices of each gig’s cheapest package, not project totals.

The full range ran from $5 to $275. A $5 to $30 starting package usually buys a short read, often 50 to 100 words, delivered as an MP3 with light editing. Around the median, you are typically buying 100 to 200 words, a clean WAV and basic noise removal. Toward $125 and up, starting packages include more words, broadcast-quality processing and sometimes usage rights for ads.

Here is how packages are usually laid out within the category’s typical $20 to $500 range:

TierTypical priceWhat it usually includes
Basic$20 to $80Up to about 150 words, MP3 or WAV, edited and cleaned, one retake for errors
Standard$80 to $250300 to 500 words, WAV at 48 kHz, split files per line or scene, commercial use
Premium$250 to $5001,000 words or more, sync to your video, background music mix, broadcast rights, faster delivery

A 60-second commercial runs roughly 130 to 150 words. An e-learning module or audiobook chapter can run thousands, which is why long scripts get quoted per finished minute or per 1,000 words instead.

Small orders carry a proportionally bigger fee. Fiverr adds a 5.5% service fee plus $3.50 on orders under $200, so a $50 read costs $56.25 at checkout. If you have several short scripts coming, one bigger order is cheaper than five small ones. 44% of the sampled gigs also offered subscriptions, which suits weekly ad reads or recurring podcast intros; our recurring orders guide explains how they bill. Once you know your word count, you can compare voice over packages on Fiverr on a like-for-like basis.

Marketplace or Fiverr Pro for voice over?

For most buyers, the marketplace is the right place. With 89% of the sampled gigs coming from Top Rated sellers, the quality floor on page one is already high, and you can hear every voice before you order.

Fiverr Pro makes sense when the read is for a national ad, a brand’s permanent phone system or a character role that needs real acting direction. Pro voice actors are vetted by Fiverr and in our sample started at a $160 median. See our Fiverr Pro guide for how the plans and the money-back guarantee on eligible Pro orders work, or browse Fiverr Pro voice actors directly.

How to read a voice over gig before ordering

Five lines on a voice over gig matter more than the headline.

  • Word count per package. Count your script first. A $40 gig capped at 100 words costs more than a $60 gig that covers 250.
  • Usage rights. Look for the words commercial use, broadcast or paid ads. If the gig does not mention rights, ask what the standard package allows.
  • File format. WAV at 48 kHz, 24-bit, is the usual standard for video. MP3 is fine for web and podcasts. Ask for both.
  • Editing level. Raw, edited (breaths and mouth clicks removed) or processed (EQ and compression). Video editors usually want edited but not heavily processed audio.
  • Retakes. Most artists redo their own mistakes for free. Script changes after recording are usually charged. Our guide to Fiverr revisions covers how to request changes on an order.

Listen to at least two samples in the style you need. A great warm narration voice can be a weak hard-sell retail voice.

If you need a human voice, ask directly. Fiverr launched Fiverr Go in 2025 with voice over as one of its AI creation categories, and its current status is unclear. Fiverr’s AI guidelines say clients should state clearly if they want no AI.

What to put in your voice over brief

Paste this into the order requirements. Voice actors can only record what is written down.

  • Final script, as a document, with the word count
  • Pronunciation guide for brand names, people and places (a phonetic spelling or a link to an audio clip)
  • Where it will be used: web video, paid social, TV, radio, phone system, e-learning, podcast intro
  • Voice: gender, age range, accent and energy (for example “calm, friendly, mid-30s, neutral American”)
  • A reference clip or link to a read you like
  • Target length in seconds if it must fit a video, plus the video file if syncing is needed
  • File needs: WAV 48 kHz, MP3, one file or split per line
  • Deadline and time zone

Red flags on voice over gigs

  • Samples that sound like they were recorded in different rooms with very different quality. The studio behind your read may not match the demo.
  • A gig that will not say what usage rights come with the package.
  • Unrealistic word counts at the lowest price, which often means little or no editing.
  • Pressure to share your full script before an order exists, or to move to another messaging app. Fiverr only allows third-party communication after an order is placed.
  • Refusal to confirm whether the voice is human when you have asked.

Frequently asked questions

How is voice over priced on Fiverr?
Most gigs price the starting package by word count, often 100 to 150 words, with extra words sold in blocks. Usage rights, faster delivery, background music and syncing to video are usually extras. Always count your script's words before comparing gigs.
What is the difference between a retake and a revision?
A retake fixes a mistake on the artist's side: a mispronounced name, a wrong word, a missed direction you gave in the brief. A revision in the script-change sense means new copy, and most artists charge for it. Agree which is which before ordering.
Do I need broadcast rights?
If the recording will run on TV, radio or as a paid online ad, check the gig's usage terms, because many artists sell commercial or broadcast rights separately. A narration for an internal training video or a YouTube tutorial usually needs only the standard license in the package.
Can I get a free sample of my script?
Some artists will read a line or two of your script so you can hear the fit, and many have demo reels on the gig page. Do not expect a full free read, and do not share a confidential script before you have an order in place.
