Hiring a WordPress developer on Fiverr in 2026: prices, what to look for and what to send

WordPress work on Fiverr splits into two very different jobs: building something new and touching something that already runs your business. The second is where buyers get hurt, because a careless update or a pirated plugin can take down a site that was working fine yesterday. Pick the seller for how they work, not only what they show.

How much does a WordPress developer cost on Fiverr?

Across the 44 well-reviewed gigs (4.7 stars or better, 20+ reviews) on the first page of Fiverr’s WordPress development category on September 29, 2026, the median starting price was $100 and the middle half ran from $80 to $180. Starting prices ranged from $80 to $595. These are the prices of each gig’s cheapest package, not the cost of a finished site.

At $100 the starting package usually covers a fix, a small customization or a one-page build on an existing theme. Prices climb with page count, custom design built in a page builder (Elementor, Divi, Bricks) or the block editor, WooCommerce, custom post types and fields, speed optimization, migrations and security cleanup.

A $500 WordPress build comes to $527.50 with Fiverr’s 5.5% service fee, before tax. A $100 fix comes to $109, since orders under $200 add a $3.50 fee. The Fiverr fees guide explains both.

Marketplace or Fiverr Pro for WordPress development?

Fiverr Pro is a strong option for anything that touches revenue. 14 of the 44 gigs in our sample were Pro, one of the highest Pro counts we recorded, with a median starting price of $162.50. For a WooCommerce store, a membership site or a redesign of a site that already ranks, that is a modest premium for a vetted developer, and eligible Pro orders carry the money-back satisfaction guarantee Fiverr describes, claimable within 14 days of completion.

How do you read a WordPress gig before ordering?

• Builder and theme. Check the seller works in your builder. Rebuilding an Elementor site in Divi is a new site, not a fix.
• Child theme. Ask whether customizations go in a child theme or custom plugin, so theme updates do not wipe them.
• Licenses. Premium themes and plugins should be licensed in your name, with the key in your account.
• Backups and staging. Good sellers back up before touching anything and test changes on a staging copy.
• WooCommerce experience. If you sell, look for stores in the portfolio and ask about payment gateways and shipping rules.
• Speed and security scope. “Speed optimization” can mean installing a caching plugin or real work on images, scripts and hosting. Ask what they measure before and after.
• Maintenance. 36% of the sampled gigs offered a subscription. Check what each month includes: updates, backups, uptime checks, edits.

What should you put in a WordPress brief?

Copy this into the requirements form:

• Site URL, or “new site” with the domain and hosting provider
• The job: fix, customize, build, migrate, speed up, clean up or maintain
• For fixes: the page URL, what happens, what should happen and a screenshot
• Current theme, builder and key plugins, with WordPress and PHP versions if you know them
• Access you will give: a new admin user for the developer, hosting or staging access if needed
• Confirmation that a full backup exists, or a request for the developer to take one first
• Design files or reference sites for new pages
• Features: forms, WooCommerce, memberships, bookings, multilingual
• Deliverables: working changes, list of plugins installed, short handover notes
• What not to touch: pages, plugins or settings that must stay as they are

What are the red flags in WordPress gigs?

• Nulled or “GPL club” premium plugins with no license in your name. They miss updates and can carry malware.
• Edits to the parent theme. Your next theme update erases the work.
• Asking for your personal admin login. Create a separate user and delete it afterwards.
• No mention of backups. On a live site, that is a gamble with your business.
• Dozens of plugins for simple features. Bloated sites get slow and harder to secure.
• A request to continue on WhatsApp before ordering. Fiverr allows third-party tools only after an order is placed, and off-platform deals are not protected.

What should you check before accepting delivery?

Test the site properly before the order completes. Fiverr auto-completes orders three days after delivery, and after completion the Resolution Center is no longer available, so ask for changes in time with “No, I’m not ready yet” on the order page.
