Fiverr invoices and taxes for businesses: what you get and how to file it

Short answer

A Fiverr invoice is the document Fiverr International Ltd. issues automatically for every paid order, showing the order, service fee and any tax collected. Business buyers should add their company name, address and tax ID before ordering, because details apply only to new invoices. Fiverr adds tax at checkout in many countries, and your accountant decides how to book it.

Key takeaways

  • Fiverr issues an invoice for every paid order, from Fiverr International Ltd. in Tel Aviv (VAT ID 558327284).
  • Your company name, address and tax ID appear only on invoices issued after you add them; older invoices stay unchanged.
  • Invoices download from Billing and Payments > Billing History on desktop, individually as PDF or in bulk as a ZIP or CSV.
  • Fiverr adds tax at checkout in many countries, such as 10% GST in Australia, GST/HST and QST in Canada and state sales tax in the US.
  • Cancellations generate credit invoices numbered FC, which reference the original invoice.

If you buy on Fiverr for a business, the paperwork matters almost as much as the work. Your bookkeeper needs a proper invoice in the company’s name, your tax filing needs to reflect any tax you paid and, in the US, someone will eventually ask about 1099s.

Fiverr handles more of this than most buyers expect. Here’s what you get, what to set up first and where the limits are. This is a practical guide, not tax advice; your accountant has the final word on how to book anything.

Does Fiverr give you an invoice?

Yes. Fiverr says “we automatically issue an invoice for every paid order,” and that includes extras and tips, since each payment is its own transaction. If a payment was billed, its invoice appears in your Billing History.

The invoice comes from Fiverr, not the freelancer, because you pay Fiverr at checkout:

Company registration number514440874
VAT ID558327284
Your detailsName, company name, address and tax ID, if added before the invoice is issued

How do you add your company details and tax ID?

Add them on your billing information page before your first order. You can enter your full name, company name, complete address and tax ID, and they’ll appear on new invoices.

Timing matters. Fiverr says “only new invoices include your updated billing information. Previously issued invoices remain unchanged.” To fix an old invoice you need to contact Customer Support with the invoice number, which is slower than getting it right on day one.

What you can’t change: the invoice content itself. Fiverr says “you cannot add, remove, or change the service name, currency, or other details.” If your accounting system needs a project code, put it in your own records, not on the invoice.

Where do you download Fiverr invoices?

Download invoices from your profile image > Billing and Payments > Billing History, then click the PDF button next to the invoice. This works in a desktop or laptop browser, not in the mobile app.

For month-end, use the bulk option. You can select several invoices and download them as a ZIP of PDFs or as a CSV report. Fiverr can’t merge several invoices into one PDF, so if your bookkeeper wants one file, the CSV is the closest thing.

A simple routine that keeps finance happy:

  1. Set a monthly reminder for the first working day.
  2. Download last month’s invoices as a ZIP and the CSV report.
  3. Save them to the shared finance folder with the month in the file name.
  4. Match any FC credit invoices against their original orders.

What taxes does Fiverr charge at checkout?

Fiverr adds tax at checkout in a number of countries and shows it on your invoice. Its taxes page says “any taxes we collect are forwarded to the relevant tax authorities and are clearly displayed on your invoices.” In several countries, a valid tax ID changes whether tax is added, so enter yours.

Examples from Fiverr’s taxes-on-purchases page:

CountryTax Fiverr lists
United StatesState sales tax, varying by state
CanadaGST/HST and QST, by province or territory
Australia10% GST
New Zealand15% GST
India18% GST
Singapore9% GST
Mexico16% (on commission plus fee)
South Africa15% (on commission plus fee)
UAE5% (on commission plus fee)
Norway25%

The page lists other countries too, including Chile, Colombia, Israel, Kenya, Nigeria, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Ukraine. When we read it on September 29, 2026, it did not mention EU member states or the UK. If you’re buying from Europe, check the page and your checkout total directly and ask your accountant how to treat the purchase.

Two rules to know. Tax is added at checkout on top of the order price, so budget for it alongside the service fee (5.5% plus $3.50 on orders under $200); in Mexico, South Africa and the UAE Fiverr says it applies to the commission plus fee. And Fiverr says the taxes it collects “cannot be refunded” by Fiverr, even when an order is cancelled. Our Fiverr fees guide covers the fee side.

Do you need to issue a 1099 to a Fiverr freelancer?

In most US cases, the question doesn’t arise the usual way, because you pay Fiverr by card or PayPal rather than paying the freelancer directly. The IRS instructions for Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC say payments made with a credit card or payment card and “third-party network transactions” are reported on Form 1099-K by the payment settlement entity “and are not subject to reporting on Form 1099-MISC or Form 1099-NEC.”

That’s the general rule, not a ruling on your books. If you pay by wire or through an arrangement that’s unusual, or you work with a freelancer outside Fiverr as well, ask your accountant. And if worker classification is a live concern for your company, note that Fiverr Pro’s Advanced plan includes one background check and worker classification audit per month.

How do refunds and cancellations show up?

Cancellations generate credit invoices. Fiverr issues them for order cancellations, including partial refunds, and their numbers start with FC and reference the original invoice.

The money itself goes to your Fiverr Balance by default. You can request a refund to the original payment method, which can take up to 10 days and only works for payments less than 180 days old. For bookkeeping, a refund sitting in Fiverr Balance is still company money, so track it until it’s spent on the next order.

What does Fiverr Pro add for finance teams?

Fiverr Pro adds payment and reporting options that matter once several people are buying. Wire transfer (SWIFT) is available only to Pro clients, and Fiverr’s Pro subscription page lists wire, ACH, SEPA and BACS for Pro team accounts.

Frequently asked questions

Does the invoice come from Fiverr or from the freelancer?
From Fiverr. Fiverr's invoices page names Fiverr International Ltd., 8 Kaplan Street, Tel Aviv, with registration number 514440874 and VAT ID 558327284. You pay Fiverr, so Fiverr is the party on your invoice.
Can I change the service name or currency on a Fiverr invoice?
No. Fiverr says you cannot customize invoice content, including the service name or currency. You can only control the billing details (name, company, address, tax ID), and only for invoices issued after you update them.
Do I need to send a 1099 to a Fiverr freelancer in the US?
The IRS says payments made by card or through third-party payment networks are reported on Form 1099-K by the payment settlement entity, not on Form 1099-NEC. Because you pay Fiverr by card or PayPal rather than paying the freelancer directly, confirm your situation with your accountant.
Is the tax Fiverr charges refundable if I cancel an order?
Fiverr's taxes page says the taxes it collects cannot be refunded by Fiverr. Cancellations do generate a credit invoice, so keep both documents for your records.
Does Fiverr charge VAT to buyers in the EU or UK?
Fiverr's taxes-on-purchases page, as we read it on September 29, 2026, lists many countries but does not mention EU member states or the UK. Check the page and your checkout screen directly, and ask your accountant how to treat the purchase.
