Fiverr for small business: what to outsource, what it costs and how to start

Short answer

Fiverr for small business is a way to buy defined pieces of work, such as a logo, product photos, blog posts or a website fix, at fixed package prices without hiring staff. It works best for scoped, repeatable tasks. Start with one small test order, keep invoices in your company's name and move to Fiverr Pro when orders get larger or several people are buying.

Key takeaways

  • Median starting prices on September 29, 2026: $10 for image editing, $20 for a blog post, $27.50 for a logo, $100 for a WordPress job and $120 for a Shopify build.
  • Fiverr's buyer fee is 5.5% of the order plus $3.50 on orders under $200, so a $100 job costs $109 before tax.
  • Every paid order gets an invoice from Fiverr International Ltd., and you can add your company name, address and tax ID.
  • Fiverr Pro Essential is free and adds a team account with unlimited members; Pro Advanced costs $129 a month plus tax.
  • Start with one small, well-defined job, then reorder from the sellers who deliver.

A small business owner usually comes to Fiverr with the same problem: plenty of work that needs doing, no budget for a full-time hire and no time to manage an agency. Fiverr fits that gap well, as long as you treat it as a place to buy defined jobs rather than a place to find a business partner.

This guide covers what to outsource first, what it costs, how to set up billing properly and when to step up to Fiverr Pro.

What can a small business outsource on Fiverr?

A small business can outsource almost any task that has a clear output: design, writing, video, web work, marketing and admin. The jobs that go best share three traits: you can describe them in a paragraph, you can judge the result when it arrives and a miss doesn’t damage the business.

A useful way to sort your list:

Good first jobsGood once you’ve found reliable sellersKeep close or use Fiverr Pro
Product photo editingBlog posts and newsletters on a scheduleFull website rebuilds
Social media graphicsMonthly social media managementAd accounts with real spend
Logo refreshMonthly SEO workBookkeeping with access to your books
One landing pageShort video adsAnything touching customer data
Data entry and lead listsVirtual assistant tasksBrand identity for a launch

Start in the left column. Once a seller has delivered two or three jobs well, move them into the middle column. The right column isn’t off-limits, but it deserves a vetted freelancer and tighter controls.

How much does Fiverr cost for a small business?

Fiverr costs whatever the package price is, plus a buyer service fee of 5.5% and a $3.50 small-order fee on orders under $200. Fiverr’s help pages currently show two versions of the small-order fee (an older page says $3.00 under $100), so trust the checkout screen, which shows the fee before you pay.

For package prices, here’s what we found. Across well-reviewed gigs (4.7+ stars, 20+ reviews) on the first page of Fiverr’s category listings on September 29, 2026, median starting prices were:

ServiceMedian starting priceMiddle 50%
Image editing$10$5 to $17.50
Blog posts and SEO articles$20$10 to $68.75
Logo design$27.50$25 to $43.75
Bookkeeping$35$25 to $75
SEO services$40$20 to $90
Social media management$60$30 to $167.50
WordPress development$100$80 to $180
Shopify builds$120$90 to $150

These are starting prices of the cheapest package, not project totals. A real small-business job often lands in the standard or premium package, two to four times the starting price. The category guides for logo design, WordPress and social media management break down what each tier usually includes.

How do you set up Fiverr for a business?

Set up Fiverr for a business by adding your company details to billing before your first order. Fiverr issues an invoice for every paid order, and you can add your full name, company name, address and tax ID to your billing information page.

Do it first, because updated details apply to new invoices only. Fiverr says “previously issued invoices remain unchanged,” and fixing an old one means contacting Customer Support. Our invoices and taxes guide covers where to download them and how tax shows up.

Three more setup habits worth building:

  • Use a shared business email for the account, not a personal one, so the account survives staff changes.
  • Use one company card for Fiverr so bookkeeping is simple. Fiverr doesn’t allow splitting one payment across cards.
  • Keep a brief template. The same one-page format for every order saves time and cuts revisions. See how to write a Fiverr brief.

How should a small business place its first order?

Place a small, well-defined first order with a seller whose level, reviews and portfolio match the job. Then judge the result against your brief and decide whether to reorder.

  1. Pick one job from the “good first jobs” column.
  2. Shortlist three sellers. Level 2 means at least 20 orders and $2,000 earned on Fiverr; Top Rated means 40 orders, $10,000 and a manual review.
  3. Message each with your brief and one question. The reply tells you a lot.
  4. Order the package that matches your scope, not the cheapest one.
  5. Submit requirements the same day so the order moves to In Progress.
  6. Review the delivery within 3 days. Orders auto-complete after that.

When should a small business use Fiverr Pro?

Use Fiverr Pro when a bad result would cost more than the order, or when more than one person on your team is buying. Fiverr says its “industry experts evaluate every Fiverr Pro freelancer before they are accepted.”

For most small businesses, the free Essential plan is the sensible step up. Advanced makes sense when spend is steady enough that a dedicated manager and monthly invoicing save real admin time. Compare the two in our Fiverr Pro vs Fiverr guide.

What are the common small-business mistakes on Fiverr?

The common mistakes are buying on price alone, sending a thin brief and letting orders auto-complete unchecked. A $15 logo that you redo in six months costs more than a $60 one you keep.

Two others come up often. Don’t hand over your main passwords: create a limited user for web, ad or accounting jobs and remove it when the order ends. And don’t move conversations to WhatsApp before ordering; Fiverr allows third-party tools only after an order is placed, and anything off-platform is outside what Fiverr can protect.

Frequently asked questions

What should a small business outsource to Fiverr first?
Pick a job that is well-defined, low-risk and easy to judge when it arrives: product photo edits, a set of social graphics, a blog post or a one-page landing page. You learn how Fiverr works on something cheap before trusting it with your website or ad account.
Do I need a special business account on Fiverr?
No. A standard Fiverr account works, and you can add your company name, address and tax ID to your billing information so they appear on new invoices. If several people will order, Fiverr Pro's free Essential plan adds a team account with unlimited members.
Can I pay Fiverr with a company card?
Yes. Fiverr accepts cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Fiverr Balance, among others. Wire transfer is available only to Fiverr Pro clients, and you can't split one payment across two cards.
Is Fiverr good for ongoing work, not just one-off jobs?
It can be. Many gigs offer subscriptions, and in our September 29, 2026 sample 58% of well-reviewed SEO gigs and 62% of social media management gigs did. For open-ended work, hourly orders with a weekly hour limit are another option.
