Hiring a press release writer on Fiverr in 2026: prices, what to look for and what to send

Short answer

A press release writer on Fiverr is a freelancer who writes news announcements in standard press release format and often sells distribution to newswires and news-site networks as an add-on. On September 29, 2026 well-reviewed gigs started at a $107.50 median, but the sample of 10 split between $10 writing-only and roughly $200 distribution packages. Most projects cost $50 to $600.

Key takeaways

  • Across 10 well-reviewed press release gigs checked on September 29, 2026, the median starting price was $107.50 and the middle half ran from $10 to $197.50.
  • The sample is small and split: $10 starting packages are usually writing only, while packages near $200 usually add distribution.
  • 3 of the 10 gigs were Fiverr Pro, with a median starting price of $250.
  • Only 1 of the 10 gigs came from a Top Rated seller, so read reviews and sample releases closely.
  • Google's spam policies list keyword-rich links in distributed press releases as link spam, so buy a release for news value, not for SEO links.

Press release gigs sell two different things under one name: writing and distribution. Writing is a craft with a fixed format, and a good writer turns a fuzzy announcement into a clear news story. Distribution is where the big numbers come from, “300 news sites” and “potential audience of 200 million”, and where buyers most often misunderstand what they bought.

How much does a press release cost on Fiverr?

Across the 10 well-reviewed gigs (4.7 stars or better, 20+ reviews) on the first page of Fiverr’s public relations category on September 29, 2026, the median starting price was $107.50 and the middle half ran from $10 to $197.50. Starting packages ranged from $10 to $750. These are starting prices of each gig’s cheapest package, not the total for a written and distributed release.

Ten gigs is a small sample, and it clusters at two ends. The low end is typically writing only: one release of 400 to 600 words. The upper end usually bundles writing with distribution to a newswire or a network of news sites. Price rises with word count, interviews, distribution reach, targeted industry lists, translated versions and a placement report.

Here is how packages are usually structured. The outer range comes from our category-level estimate of $50 to $600 and is general guidance, not measured data.

TierTypical priceWhat it usually includes
Basic$50 to $120Writing only: one release up to about 500 words, headline, quote, boilerplate, 1-2 revisions
Standard$120 to $300Writing plus distribution to a general newswire or syndication network, placement report
Premium$300 to $600Interview-based writing, industry or regional targeting, media list, multimedia release, extended report

Fiverr’s service fee on the $107.50 median is $9.41 (5.5% plus $3.50 under $200, per its payments article), for $116.91 in total. See the fees guide.

Marketplace or Fiverr Pro for a press release?

For a straightforward announcement, the marketplace is enough. 3 of the 10 gigs in our sample were Fiverr Pro, with a $250 median start. Pro makes sense when the release supports a funding round, an acquisition or anything a journalist might check line by line, because you want a writer who asks hard questions before drafting.

Badges are thin in this category: only 1 of the 10 gigs came from a Top Rated seller, the lowest share among the marketing categories we checked. Lean on sample releases and reviews that mention outcomes. If the stakes are high, look at Fiverr Pro PR writers .

How do you read a press release gig before ordering?

Split the package into writing and distribution, then check each half.

  • Writing only or writing plus distribution. Many $10-$50 packages are writing only. Distribution is often an extra.
  • Distribution named. Which newswire or network? “Hundreds of sites” with no names tells you nothing.
  • Sample report. Ask for a real report from a past release. Check whether the listed pages are indexed and whether they are in sections readers visit.
  • Links. Ask how links in the release are handled. One plain link to your site is normal; keyword-stuffed links are a problem (see red flags).
  • Word count and format. Headline, dateline, summary, body, quote, boilerplate and media contact should all be included.
  • Revisions and delivery. The median starting package delivers in 4 days. Distribution adds its own publishing time.

40% of the gigs offered a subscription, aimed at companies that publish news regularly.

What should you put in a press release brief?

Send this before ordering. The clearer the facts, the less the writer has to invent. The brief writing guide covers the general structure.

  • The news in one sentence: who did what, when and where
  • Why it matters to someone outside your company
  • Key facts and numbers, with sources
  • A quote from a named spokesperson, or permission for the writer to draft one for approval
  • Company boilerplate: two to three sentences about the business
  • Media contact name, email and phone to publish
  • Release date and time zone, or “for immediate release”
  • Target audience: trade press, local press, investors, customers
  • Distribution: writing only, or which newswire and regions
  • Links to include, and the exact URLs

What are the red flags when hiring a press release writer?

Watch for these before you pay for distribution.

  • Sold as an SEO backlink package. Google’s spam policies list links with optimized anchor text in press releases distributed on other sites as link spam.
  • “Guaranteed coverage on major outlets.” Paid syndication is not editorial coverage. Ask what exactly is guaranteed.
  • Audience numbers with no named sites. “Potential reach of 200 million” is the combined traffic of sites, not readers of your release.
  • Invented quotes or facts. Every quote should be approved by the person named. Every number should come from you.
  • Unedited AI text. Fiverr’s guidelines say generic, unmodified AI output does not meet its quality standards. Say “no AI” in the brief if that matters to you.
  • Wants to handle distribution off Fiverr before ordering. Third-party tools are allowed only after an order is placed, and off-platform payments are not protected.

Where do you find a good press release writer on Fiverr?

Start with the shortlist on this page. It lists live press release gigs that passed our rating and review filters, with prices and delivery stamped on the day we checked. Because the sample is small, read two or three sample releases from each seller before choosing.

If what you need is ongoing content rather than one announcement, see blog articles. For company-voice long-form, see ghostwriting.

Frequently asked questions

Will a Fiverr press release get me into the news?
Distribution puts your release on newswire feeds and syndication pages; it does not make journalists write about you. Real coverage comes from a newsworthy story and, often, direct pitching to reporters, which is a separate service.
What does 'published on 300+ news sites' mean?
Usually that the release is automatically reposted on partner pages of news sites, often in sections few readers visit. It can look good in a report and still produce no coverage. Ask for a sample distribution report from a past release.
Do I need a writer if I can write it myself?
Not necessarily. If you can write a clear release, buy distribution only or an editing package. If your story is hard to explain simply, a writer who knows the format is worth it.
How long should a press release be?
Most useful releases fit on one page: a headline, a one-sentence summary, three or four short paragraphs, a quote and a boilerplate. If it runs longer, the news is usually buried.
