Hiring an SEO expert on Fiverr in 2026: prices, what to look for and what to send

SEO is the Fiverr category with the biggest gap between what sells and what works. The cheapest, most ordered packages are often bulk backlinks, the one thing Google’s own spam policies call out by name. The useful work, audits, technical fixes and pages written for the right searches, looks less exciting on a gig card and is worth far more.

How much do SEO services cost on Fiverr?

Across the 43 well-reviewed gigs (4.7 stars or better, 20+ reviews) on the first page of Fiverr’s SEO services category on September 29, 2026, the median starting price was $40 and the middle half ran from $20 to $90. Starting packages ranged from $5 to $250. These are starting prices of each gig’s cheapest package, not what a month of real SEO work costs.

At $20 to $40 you are usually buying a single deliverable: a site audit report, a keyword list for a few pages, on-page fixes for one page or a Google Business Profile setup. Prices go up with the number of pages, the depth of the technical audit, content writing, local citations, reporting and whether the seller implements changes or only recommends them.

For most small businesses, the marketplace is the right place. Only 5 of the 43 gigs we checked were Fiverr Pro, starting at a $100 median, and 40% came from Top Rated sellers. A specific, well-reviewed audit from a Top Rated seller is a low-risk first order.

How do you read an SEO gig before ordering?

Read the package table as a list of deliverables, not promises. These checks cut through most of the noise.

• Recommend or implement. Does the seller change your pages, or send a report for someone else to act on? Both are fine; price them differently.
• Pages covered. On-page packages count pages. Match it to your real page count.
• Tools named. A seller who names the crawler or keyword tool they use is easier to check than one who says “advanced tools”.
• Report format. Ask for a sample report. It should show your data from Search Console, not a generic score.
• Links. If the gig sells a number of backlinks, read the next section before ordering.
• Recurring. 58% of gigs offered a subscription. Read our subscriptions guide before committing to one.

The median starting package delivers in 7 days, which is enough for an audit. It is not enough time to see rankings move, so do not judge the first order by rankings.

What should you put in an SEO brief?

Paste this into a message before ordering. It lets the seller tell you honestly whether their package fits.

• Site URL and platform (WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, custom)
• What you sell and the area you serve (city, country or worldwide)
• Five searches you want to be found for, and your current position if you know it
• Three competitors who rank where you want to be
• Access you can give after ordering: Search Console, Analytics, CMS
• What you want back: audit, implemented fixes, new content, local profile, monthly report
• Pages that must not change (legal, checkout, landing pages for ads)
• Any past SEO work, especially bought links
• Budget per month and how long you will run it before reviewing

What are the red flags when hiring an SEO expert?

Most SEO red flags are visible in the gig title. Walk away from these.

• Thousands of backlinks for a flat fee. Google’s spam policies describe buying or selling links for ranking purposes, and using automated services to create links, as link spam.
• Guaranteed rankings or “page one in 30 days”. Nobody controls Google’s results.
• “Domain authority” boosts. DA is a score from a third-party SEO tool, and it can be pushed up with exactly the kind of links Google warns about. A higher number on its own proves nothing.
• Mass AI-written articles. Google’s spam policies call pages generated at scale mainly to manipulate rankings “scaled content abuse”.
• No sample report. If they cannot show one, they probably send a tool export.
• Asks for your hosting or domain login before ordering. Add them as a restricted user after the order is placed. Fiverr says it will never ask for your login or payment details.
